Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later appointed to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling an opportunity to become a citizen for undocumented immigrant immigrants and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She was praised nationally for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of assault on a woman.
